What we do

ENGAGE – EMPOWER – ENJOY

The aim of Geography Victoria is to bring together people of all ages who love geography to engage in interesting activities, advance Geography as a discipline and to explore, enjoy and learn about the environment.

While our official launch was in November 2024, we have already held many very successful environmentally themed activities. Given that every event has been hugely oversubscribed, you do need to register early. Members of Geography Victoria receive early access when booking – so do consider joining now.

Some examples of the events we have held so far, which also demonstrate the partnerships that GV is developing, include:

  • Studley Park and Merri Creek fieldtrip with Merri Creek Management Committee
  • Space Aero drone forum followed by a boat trip exploring the Port of Melbourne
  • Coastal fieldtrips around Mornington Peninsula and Port Phillip Bay (and a second one in association with Life Saving Victoria)
  • Private screening of The Lost City of Melbourne at the Thornbury Picture House
  • An inspirational Science Week field trip – discovering the extraordinary transformation from Elsternwick Golf Course to the Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve with renowned environmentalist Gio Fitzpatrick and the sustainability practices which have been in place at the National Trust property Ripponlea
  • CBD walking tours lead by Rob Adams AM, City of Melbourne architect
  • Tour of the Australian Synchrotron in Clayton
